Kristine McNary Photography: Blog en-us (C) Kristine McNary Photography (Kristine McNary Photography) Mon, 16 Mar 2020 06:34:00 GMT Mon, 16 Mar 2020 06:34:00 GMT Kristine McNary Photography: Blog 114 120 Style Over the years, I've never really had a "style" even specific subject that I've photographed, recently with the thoughts or capturing more events, such as some of the civil war events, it's occurred me that I really like the photo’s that capture some action, but also provide a feel of the event.  Much like some of my more artistic styled photo’s that capture the feel of the scenery rather than just the technical composure.  


For example, this photo, was taken late 1997 with black & white film of my daughter playing in the leaves, in my opinion it captures a little bit of action, but also the feeling of the event.


And while you can’t really see her face, it does in my opinion exemplify a style.  I have a couple of modern examples that I think exemplify that style, I was recently directed Rae Egglestone Evans Photography, who I think does an excellent job using modern photography to capture the feeling the Civil War era based upon reeneactors.

for this image while there's people in modern clothing in the background, I focused on stylizing the photo using photoshop to turn it to black & white, then sepia while softening the focus in the background. honestly while I wasn't thinking based upon the timing of the photo I should have opened my aperture so that background was naturally out of focus.
